Bug Sale

Wednesday Advertising Day.

On sale at Heritag this weekend: two 1960 model sheets by Vauhgn Bode for a forgotten (commercial?) project. As I am writing this, they are only at $40 each. Maybe he should have included some cheese or a wizard.

Sam and Silo's Strip

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Though pretty good, Jerry Dumas' Sam and Silo suffered from comparison to the infinitely more funny Sam's Strip from the early sixties, where these Laurel and Hardy as town shriff and his help were first introduced. Also the small town focus may have made it a small town strip.

Science Faction

Monday Cartoon Day.

Here's an oddity for you. An illustrated science feature. Eventhough there also was a comic book artit called Bob Brown, I don't think he did these. It looks more like the work of Frank Bolle.

Jumble In The Jungle

Sunday Meskin Measures.

Picking up where we left off, here is another early DC stroy by Meskin. Immediately after that, we see what seems to be a solo tory by George Roussos. I include that, so you can see how hard it can be to destinguish between the two. Roussos picked up a good number of tricks from his friend Meskin, but he always had his own touched which give him away, even when he is inking Meskin (like the shadow on the face of the policeman in the over the shoulder shot).
